This brief provides guidance for evaluators on designing and reporting high quality Quasi-Experimental Design studies (QEDs) aligned with the Clearinghouse’s Handbook of Standards and Procedures, Version 2.0. This brief can help evaluators design and conduct rigorous QEDs and avoid common reasons that QEDs receive low ratings on the Clearinghouse’s design and execution standards. It describes the design and execution standards all QEDs reviewed by the Clearinghouse must meet to receive a rating of Moderate Support for Casual Evidence – the highest rating QEDs can receive.

The Reporting Guide for Study Authors details the information in studies that the Prevention Services Clearinghouse uses to determine eligibility for review, assign design and execution ratings, and determine program or service ratings, as well as other recommended practices for research reporting. This guide aims to facilitate the Prevention Services Clearinghouse review process and is also intended to help study authors describe their studies completely and consistently.
